Norwich City Under-18s defender Alfie Doy says he is excited to start the new season, with the Canaries hosting their Leicester City counterparts on Saturday (KO 12.30pm).
"We're very excited to start the new season. We've got a new squad full of players, so it'll be interesting how we all perform together. We'll also be facing new players and teams, and I think we can have a positive season, get some positive results and kick on from the first game," he explains.
"It's a good group of players this year, a lot of talented players. There's a lot of competition and a lot of places to be won, and it'll be interesting to see who starts and who plays.
After a positive pre-season, including a training camp in Slovenia, Doy is excited about the challenges ahead.
"Pre-season was good, I think we had a few challenges. Charlton were a good side and gave us a good challenge, especially in the first half. Ipswich is always going to be a tough game, being a derby.
"The tour in Slovenia was a good experience too, gave us a chance to bond. It was definitely a positive period for us.
"It's very important for us to start with a win, I think it would give us the confidence in other games throughout the season.
"Leicester are a good side, and beating them would definitely give us the confidence to beat anyone in the league."
