When the first round of the 2025/26 Carabao Cup gets underway this evening, fans of 13 EFL clubs can expect a subtle, but meaningful, change to the Carabao Cup badge on their squad’s matchday kit.
This season, as the English Football League (EFL) marks 65 years of the historic competition, any club that has previously lifted the iconic trophy will wear a special sleeve badge that includes a nod to the number of times they have won the competition.
Having won the competition in 1962 and 1985, Norwich City’s Carabao Cup sleeve will feature the number two, a symbol of the club's history in the competition that many fans, past and present, will cherish.
In 1962, Norwich’s win marked the first major trophy in their history as the squad, captained by future City manager Ron Ashman, defeated Rochdale 4–0 on aggregate over two legs. Norwich City went on to reach three more League Cup finals, but it wasn’t until a memorable victory over Sunderland at Wembley Stadium in 1985 that the Canaries would lift the cup for a second time.
