Norwich City completed the signing of Greek winger Christos Tzolis earlier today.
To learn more about our new player, canaries.co.uk spoke to Dimitris Samolis, a Greek football reporter for Gazzetta.gr.
“I would like to tell you that Christos is one of the biggest talents in Greece, maybe the best talent,” said Samolis.
“Christos is a player with very good finishing. He has proved that he is very good in this. He is a fast footballer. He has a low centre of gravity, and he can use both his legs as well."
Samolis added that Tzolis normally played on the wing for PAOK, the club he joined Norwich from, but could also play up front. And having scored for PAOK in European competitions as well as for Greece at full international level, the journalist has every confidence that Tzolis can perform in the Premier League.
“He is a perfectionist. He tries to be perfect in every game and not to make mistakes,” said Samolis.
“He has proven that he can play and stay in this level, the European level, and also the national coach of Greece used him as well, even though he had some other players in these positions.
“He chose to use Tzolis because he is a player that follows the tactical approach of his manager. I am sure if they ask him to return to the defence to help the team, he will do this.
“He will follow 100 per cent the tactical approach of his manager. I think he has abilities to stay at this European level. He played in European games with PAOK and he was one of the main players of the club both in Greek Super League and European competitions.”
Samolis also added that Tozlis linked up well with Norwich City left-back Dimitris Giannoulis when the two where together at PAOK.
“I would say that when these two guys were together in PAOK it was a very nice image because we know that Giannoulis, although he is a player who plays left back, can make assists and create chances and I think it was very important for PAOK to have, at the same time, these two players together,” said Samolis.
“I remember some games they cooperated well and I am sure this will happen again at Norwich FC. They know each other very well and they are good friends, and I am sure that Giannoulis will be able to find him in the games.”
Finally, Samolis added that Tozlis was a good character, who despite his young age was very mature.
“He is a great kid," he said. “Those who know him very well in PAOK say he is a boy who smiles all the time, and nobody is surprised that he took this transfer to the Premier League. When he has to speak to someone he would speak with kindness. He is not a footballer who will ignore somebody and this, of course, means we all behind him.”
