Ashley Barnes is Norwich City's first signing of the 2023/24 summer transfer window, making the switch from Burnley.
After a brief spell at Bristol Rovers in his youth, Barnes first progressed through at non-league side Paulton Rovers, before earning a contract at Plymouth Argyle.
The striker made 22 league appearances for the Pilgrims, scoring four times. He had a number of loan spells away from Home Park, at Oxford United, Salisbury City, Eastbourne Borough, Torquay United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
After impressing during his initial loan spell with the Seagulls, he made the move permanent in July 2010.
He scored 18 times in League One, as the side clinched the title and won promotion into the second tier. Barnes continued at the club until January 2014, moving onto Burnley.
Barnes' first six months at Turf Moor were very successful, as Sean Dyche's side finished second to win promotion into the Premier League. The Clarets were relegated in their first season, but bounced back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
Several seasons in the Premier League followed for Barnes and Burnley, with the Clarets claiming a seventh-place finish and a spot in the UEFA Europa League.
The 33-year-old made five appearances in the competition, and scored against Aberdeen in the second qualifying round second leg. Burnley's run in the competition came to an end in the play-off round, losing out to Greek side Olympiacos.
After six seasons in the Premier League, Burnley were relegated during the 2021/22 season, with Dyche also departing during the campaign.
Vincent Kompany was the eventual replacement at Turf Moor, with Barnes scoring six Championship goals as Burnley finished as champions.
