Norwich City have announced the signing of Switzerland international Christian Fassnacht from BSC Young Boys.
The now 29-year-old Fassnacht played his youth football with FC Zurich and Red Star, both in his home city of Zurich.
After a number of years in the third tier of Swiss football, where he represented FC Thalwil and FC Tuggen playing 95 games and scoring 32 goals, he joined Challenge League side FC Winterthur.
After 15 goal contributions across two seasons with Winterthur, Fassnacht caught the eye of Super League side Thun where he then moved for a fee of €200k.
He played with Thun for a single season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 36 games.
That impressive campaign led to a €1.5m transfer to Bernese side Young Boys where he has won five league titles and two Swiss Cups in six seasons.
Zurich-born Fassnacht made 251 appearances for Young Boys in all competitions, scoring 75 goals and adding 43 assists to his tally.
Having never played for his country until senior football, the midfielder has gone on to be capped 19 times by Switzerland, scoring four goals.
His debut came in 2-1 loss to Belgium in a 2018 Nations League fixture, while his first goal for his country arrived in a 6-1 win against Gibraltar.
He is the cousin of Linus Obexer, a defender for FC Stade Lausanne who also ply their trade in the Swiss Super League.
