Sydney van Hooijdonk has joined Norwich City on loan from Italian Serie A side Bologna FC for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
Born in Breda, Netherlands, van Hooijdonk joined NAC Breda Under-19s in 2017, producing 23 goals in 29 appearances.
His impressive start with the youth side resulted in an early Eredivisie debut for the centre-forward, in a 2-1 loss against Utrecht in October 2018.
Following relegation to Eerste Divisie for NAC later that season, the 23-year-old kept his place in the first team, netting six times in 25 appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.
Despite injury set-backs, van Hooijdonk had the full backing of the Yellow Army, contributing a further 16 goals and two assists to the club in his last season at NAC Breda.
July 2021 saw him join the Serie A side on a permanent basis, after being linked with Nottingham Forest and Celtic, the former homes of his father and Dutch international, Pierre.
The move saw van Hooijdonk make 13 appearances for Bologna before he made a return to the Netherlands via a loan to Eredivisie club Heerenveen.
From January 2022 to June 2023, the striker netted 22 times in 48 appearances before the end of his loan spell with the Super Frisians.
The 2023/24 season with Bologna saw van Hooijdonk make an impact in the second round of Coppa Italia, where the Dutchman scored the home side's second goal against Hellas Verona.
Bologna went on to reach the quarter-finals in January earlier this year, losing out to Fiorentina on penalties.
Van Hooijdonk also made nine league appearances in Serie A this season.
