Norwich City Under-18s midfielder Finley Welch was delighted with the team's performance in Saturday's 3-1 win against Birmingham City Under-18s.
“It was good. We held on until the last minute and put in all that effort," he said. "I thought we deserved that win.
“Equalising straight after conceding shows the spirit and hard work we’ve got in the team. All the anger that had built up in the games we’ve lost was let out today and it was good to get the win."
City had to dig deep when Joe Duffy was sent off in the second half, but Welch was pleased with the team's response to going down to ten men.
“It was a good challenge when we were down to ten men. We handled it well although we could have done a few things better. It’s part of the game and it happens.”
Welch recently signed his first scholarship with the club and is enjoying his time at Lotus Training Centre so far.
“It’s great here," he said. "I’m a different type of player to what I’ve been in the past. I’m more full-time now with training, so it makes me a better player and the coaches help us a lot and give us a lot of information."
