Ben Chrisene spoke to Canaries TV after signing for the club from Aston Villa.
He discussed his career so far, joining the club and the familiar faces around the Norwich City dressing room.
Welcome to Norwich City. How does it feel to join the club?
It feels amazing. I'm excited to be here and excited to get started.
You had some experience of the Championship last season with Blackburn. How much did that prepare you for now joining Norwich and having a good run at it again this year?
It prepared me well. It was like a taster for me because it was only the second half of the season. I think once you do get a taste of it though, you want to do it as much as you can, playing at that level. It's a good level, a really good level. I'm excited to do it here at Norwich and progress on.
You started your career with Exeter but have spent the last few years with Aston Villa. How important for your development has it been being around a Premier League environment and particularly a club that have now gone on to European football?
It was massive. I joined Villa when they had just survived relegation from the Premier League so the transition for them over the last four years has been amazing for them. It made it harder for younger players to maybe break into the first team but that's natural when a team's doing so well. For me, it helped me a lot because I was involved around a Premier League team which developed me into the player I am today. It wasn't meant to be at Villa but I want to play in the Premier League, I want to play there with Norwich which I think is the ambition for this club. I'm sure we can get there.
You're coming here now to a new dressing room, a new environment, but I believe you're familiar with a few faces already from the summer tour with the England Under-20s already?
Yeah, we had a camp. There were three or four players there, and I had brief chats with them about Norwich at the time as well which was good to get a little insight to it. It will be nice to catch up with them again.
We had Kellen Fisher, Brad Hills and Abu Kamara there, what did they have to say about Norwich - the city, the place, the club, the people?
They didn't say anything bad which is always good, they just praised it which is nice to hear. When you speak to players at camps, they're completely honest and they just praised the club and how well run it is. Especially with them being young players as well, and how they're being integrated more into the first team. Obviously, a couple of them were on loan and Kellen was here, he's getting more opportunities this pre-season as well, all of them are. I think they were excited at the time about the transition for them and hopefully, that'll be the same for me.
You're still young but played first-team football at 15 years of age. Do you come with a little bit of added experience, even at this age?
A little bit. It's tough making your debut, I was quite fortunate to do it that young and it set me up for the next few years after that. I got experience that not many 15/16-year-olds were getting. But there's a difference between making your debut and actually making a name for yourself in the game. This is the right time for me to really push on and make a name for myself rather than just coming on here and there.
What conversations have you had with the sporting director and head coach about where you might fit in here?
We've had quite a few conversations the last week. The project they were giving out and planning is really exciting, not only for me but for the whole club. They were talking about the ambitions and the goals for the team and for myself. Right now, I'm hoping I can come in and play straight away but, if not, they'll teach me. It's a hard transition for everyone with a new manager and staff, everyone else will be learning just as I will coming into a new team. Things take time but, hopefully, it gels pretty quickly and we can hit the ground running.
Off the pitch, having had the chance to look around the place, do you think this is an environment that you can fit in to?
Absolutely, 100 per cent. I haven't met the lads yet but everyone tells me they're a great group. The feel about the club is a Premier League feel, we just need to meet the ambition and get there.
Lastly then, if you had a chance to send a message out to the Norwich fans about what they can expect from you in a yellow shirt, what would that be?
They'll have to wait and find out. It's hard to try and sell myself, I'll just have to let the football talk.
