Five Canaries will represent their nations in this summer’s FIFA World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
Following Mohamed Touré’s most recent call-up to the Australian National Team, five Canaries will feature in this summer’s international competition.
Alongside Mo, Anis Ben Slimane, Kenny McLean, José Córdoba and Ali Ahmed will fly out to North America to represent Tunisia, Scotland, Panama and Canada respectively.
Anis Ben Slimane – Tunisia
Following friendlies against Austria (01/06) and Belgium (06/06) Sabri Lamouchi’s Tunisia will compete in Group F alongside the Netherlands, Japan and Sweden, kicking off their campaign on Sunday, June 14 (3am UK) in Monterrey against Sweden.
Remaining in Mexico for their second game of the tournament, Tunisia will face Japan in Guadalajara on Sunday, June 21 (5am UK).
Wrapping up the group stage in Kansas on Friday, June 26 (12am UK), Tunisia will face the Netherlands.
Kenny McLean – Scotland
Having not qualified since France ’98, Scotland will compete on the biggest stage this summer for the first time in 28 years, lining up against Brazil, Morocco and Haiti in what many consider the ‘group of death’ in Group C.
Kicking their group stage off in Boston at the Gillette Stadium, City’s captain will face Haiti on Sunday, June 14 (2am UK) before playing Africa Cup of Nations finalists Morocco in Boston five days later (June 19, 11pm UK).
Scotland will wrap up their group stage campaign at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida when they face Brazil on Wednesday, June 24 (11pm UK).
José Córdoba – Panama
City’s big centre half will represent Panama this summer at the World Cup in what is only their second ever appearance in the competition – having last qualified in 2018.
After a 6-1 defeat against Gareth Southgate’s England 8 years ago in Russia, the Canal Men will once again line-up against the Three Lions this summer, having been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Ghana.
Thomas Christiansen’s side will start their campaign against Ghana at BMO Field on Thursday, June 18 (12am UK) before staying in Toronto to face Croatia on June 24 (12am).
Panama’s final group stage game will see them face Thomas Tunchel’s England three days later at the MetLife Stadium in New York (10pm UK).
Ali Ahmed – Canada
Friendlies against Uzbekistan (02/06) and Ireland (06/06) tee host nation Canada up ahead of their Group B clashes with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar and Switzerland.
The Canuks kick-off their World Cup campaign with a clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on Friday, June 12 (8pm UK) before travelling across the country to face Qatar in Vancouver on Thursday, June 18 (11pm UK).
Jesse Marsch’s men complete their group stage campaign at BC Place when they face Switzerland on June 24 (8pm UK)
Mo Touré – Australia
The Socceroos maintain their run of sixth consecutive World Cup appearances this summer, having won all six of their qualification games under the stewardship of former Crystal Palace centre half Tony Popovic.
Mo Touré and his teammates have been drawn alongside host nation USA, Paraguay and Türkiye in Group D, kicking off their campaign against Türkiye in Vancouver on Sunday, June 14 (5am UK).
They’ll then make the short journey across the border to face the US in Seattle on June 19 (8pm UK) before rounding out their group against Paraguay further down the east coast in Santa Clara on June 26 (3am UK).
