Liam Gibbs has a signed a new five-year contract, which sees him commit to Norwich City until 2028.
Twenty-year-old Gibbs has also been assigned the number eight shirt for the coming campaign.
The midfielder featured 39 times in all competitions for the Canaries in the 2022/23 season, scoring a first senior goal in the Sky Bet Championship win over Blackburn Rovers.
Gibbs signed for Norwich City from Ipswich Town in July 2021, making 23 appearances for City’s Under-23 side in the 2021/22 season.
His first-team debut came through a substitute appearance on the opening day of the 2022/23 season, away to Cardiff City.
After impressing during his first full senior campaign, Gibbs was chosen as the Etty Smith Young Player of the Season, and received his award from Delia Smith and Michael Wynn-Jones.
Speaking on the announcement, Gibbs said: “I’m very happy to have signed such a long-term deal with the club.
“Every game I played (last season) I felt like I learned something. The more the season went on, the more comfortable I felt in the team. For me personally, scoring my first goal was the highlight of the season.”
“If I can contribute more goals and more assists, and really help us push for promotion, that’s what I’m aiming to do.”
Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber said: “We’re all delighted that Liam has committed his long-term future to the football club. This continues to show our dedication to the development of our young players.
“Liam has been top class since he walked into the Lotus Training Centre and deserves this recognition for both his quality and hard work."
