Norwich City captain Grant Hanley told canaries.co.uk that the team need to stay positive following Saturday’s 5-0 defeat away to Manchester City.
“It’s disappointing and not the result we wanted,” Hanley said, reflecting on the game. “There’s not much to say really. We need to do better, improve and stick together.
“It’s difficult when you come away to a place like this and concede early goals. You always face an uphill battle.
“In the first half, we had some periods of play that were encouraging for us so the mindset at half-time was to improve on that.
“We hoped to start the second half well but conceded again which was a bit of a killer, so it’s disappointing the way we conceded the goals and we need to improve.
“As players, you’ve got to remain professional, keep doing your job and believe. We started the second half bright and then gave ourselves a mountain to climb.
“We’ve got to learn from it but we can’t be feeling sorry for ourselves. We need to keep our heads held high, keep moving forward and keep looking to improve because we need to do better.”
Norwich City will now return to Carrow Road to face AFC Bournemouth in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, before welcoming Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.
