Skipper Grant Hanley says belief has been a key word in the Norwich City dressing room as the players look to take on Manchester United at Carrow Road on Saturday.
Norwich go into the match against Ralf Rangnick’s side as underdogs but the City captain says that there is no easy challenges in the Premier League as it is the world’s most competitive division with the world’s best players.
“I don’t think you look at any fixture and think we have got any easy game this week,” he said. “This is the Premier League, you are playing against the best teams and the best players in the world and you wouldn’t change that for anything.
“This is the league you want to play in and the reason you start playing football, because you want to play against the best in the world and that is where we are at. We want to test ourselves against the best and we want to be successful against the best.
“It is Manchester United, so it is always going to be a tough game. Playing at home it is up to the players to make Carrow Road a really difficult place to come to because the fans have been absolutely first class since I have come here; and we know they will be there to support us. It is important for the players to give something back and to give them a performance and a result that they deserve.”
Norwich currently sit bottom of the table but are just three points adrift of safety. Speaking about the battle to avoid the drop this season, Grant added: “Probably the word that you will hear the players saying most, and we hear a lot in the dressing room, is belief.
“We have certainly got that. I know we have been written off, I think we were probably written off even before the season started, and it is important for the players to block out that kind of noise and concentrate on what our job is. There is always an element of truth in the dressing room and the lads know what we are capable of and what we have got the ability to achieve, and if we work hard enough I think we are definitely capable of it.”
