The Canaries will welcome Coventry City to Carrow Road on Saturday for the club's annual 'Greenest Game' and we are encouraging supporters to make climate friendly actions in their matchday routine.
We’ve started making changes to make the club more sustainable, which you can find on our dedicated Sustainability page and now we’re asking supporters to join us in becoming #GreenerTogether.
To show our support for the Green Football Weekend campaign, taking place from February 2-5, there will be a number of changes and additions made around the ground to help make our matchday more sustainable.
Tickets
The club will be going paperless for casual tickets this matchday, with no printed tickets being distributed. This trial not only helps us test the service for future use, but also aligns well with the Greenest Game initiative by eliminating paper, printing and delivery costs.
We encourage all fans to use the official Norwich City app, where tickets can be found in the 'tickets' section, once signed into your One City account.
For any questions around this, please call the ticket office on 01603 721902 (option 1).
Food and drink
Reusable cups will be in place at the Lion and Castle pub, Yellows Bar and Grill and the 1902 lounge. These will also be used in these areas going forward on matchdays.
To encourage greener eating, a discount of 30 per cent will be applied to our vegan pasty option in all concourses and vegan burgers will be available for £6 in the Lion and Castle.
Retail
Alongside the club's replica shirts already made of recycled fabrics, there will be a 50 per cent discount on reusable water bottles and jute bags.
This offer will be available in store and online from 00.01am Saturday, February 3, to 11.59pm Sunday, February 4.
FanZone
Junior Canary fans will be able to submit their pledges for the Greenest Football Cup at the FanZone on the day, with all those who make a pledge via the Pledgeball website entered into a draw to win a signed 2023/24 replica shirt.
Tomato and herb seeds will be given out to Junior Canaries for another competition, where three winners will get a reusable water bottle and a bamboo keyring. To be in with a chance of winning, take a photo of your seeds as they grow into a plant and you could have your image featured on the Junior Canaries webpage.
We will also have a football boot donation point at the FanZone. All boots will be taken to The Nest, where they are sorted and re-sold for £5 a pair, with all money supporting the Community Sports Foundation.
Pop-ups
Norwich City fan group Canaries Trust will have members outside the ground with iPads and posters to help supporters sign up and make their pledges for Green Football weekend.
Also present on the day will be Sustrans, a national charity making it easier for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle. Sustrans will be asking your vote on what would help to create better sustainable travel to and from matches, as well as providing information on journey planning and greener ways to travel. Look out for them by the South Stand ticket office.
On the Stall City will also be in attendance with a pop up stall selling donated items and discontinued club lines. All profits will go to the Community Sports Foundation. Fans wishing to donate can bring used football shirts, books and memorabilia.
Other ways to get involved
A football boot collection and swap is permanently in place at The Nest for old and used football boots.
We also encourage fans to walk or use public transport to travel to the game where possible. You can find all our sustainable travel options on our website here.
As part of our sustainability strategy, the club has invested in bike racks that will be available to use on matchdays and other events, with planned completion in the coming months.
