Norwich City Under-18s coach Greg Crane has given his view on Saturday's 1-0 loss at home to West Bromwich Albion Under-18s.
"I thought it was a very balanced, even game," he said. "I can't remember too many shots on target that the keepers had to save.
"In the second half, we dominated. Early on, they had a few set-piece chances but nothing really major and I think we controlled the game.
"We just couldn't find that cutting edge in front of goal and it's something we've been missing, not just now, but all season. We've been speaking to all of our players about that care in the final pass, that final decision, that end product.
"Worst case scenario, we've got make the keeper make the save. There are lots of positives to take from the game, but it's another defeat and they've got to start impacting games more."
City's players were getting in the right areas and showing good positioning throughout the game, but didn't do enough to trouble West Brom in the duels.
"A few occasions throughout the game there were half-chances we could've snuffed out if we were a bit more aggressive and on the front foot," Crane said.
"That's not just the attackers, that's the back lads as well. When we're attacking, can they get up behind the ball and keep the attack going or are they just happy to watch the attack go?
"There are loads of little bits. They'll be frustrated and kicking themselves but we go again on Monday."
It's been a difficult season for the Under-18s so far results-wise, who have experimented with a number of different formations and styles in recent months.
"We had a really good pre-season where we got a lot of work into the lads and then since then we've had injury disruptions and this week we had six to seven players out with Covid," Crane said.
"It's been that kind of season at the moment and a few of our lads have been involved with the Under-23s so we can't always get teams on the pitch, but it's really important that we understand that it's an individual game and we need to get our individuals improving every week.
"Although we might not get every training session or match the way we want, we've got to take that as an opportunity to learn and develop and progress."
