Ahead of today’s fixture against Coventry City, the club would like to reiterate to fans that Norwich City are dedicated to ensuring that Carrow Road is a home for everyone and a place that all supporters feel safe.
Norwich City superfan Lee John Clarke spoke to canaries.co.uk about how Carrow Road feels like a home to him. He said: “It’s my escapism from the real world. No worries for 90 minutes, just pure joy cheering on my team in yellow and green.
“Those 90 mins allow me to switch off from any worries I may have.”
The club also discussed with Lee why holding fans responsible to unacceptable behaviour is so important.
Lee said: “We live in a world now where people are attacked on social media all the time, including myself. This even resulted in me not coming to Carrow Road, the place where I was supposed to have no worries whilst watching my club.
“What I wear to the football should not matter and I should be able to watch my team without the worry of fans behaviour towards me for dressing up.
“I love Norwich City and I love dressing up for match days, but I shouldn't have to worry about fellow fans unacceptable behaviour and I'm glad the club have taken this approach, because we are a club where everyone is welcome, but not the fans who want to abuse others.”
We encourage all supporters to help us in driving a welcoming and safe atmosphere at Carrow Road and ask you to continue to report any behaviour that violates the supporter charter.
