Shaun Howes' Norwich City Women will hope to earn back-to-back wins this weekend in an FAWNL Division One South East fixture at home against Cambridge United.
A great win at the weekend in the cup and plenty of goals too. What did you make of the squad’s performance against King’s Lynn?
Cup fixtures against lower league opposition can always be difficult, so I thought the girls handled it really well. On reflection King’s Lynn did really well first half to stop us playing and worked really hard. The way the girls didn’t panic, kept trying to play the right way was really impressive and they got their rewards in the second half.
Five goals will definitely help boost the confidence of the girls. Do you think we needed that amongst our recent up and down results?
We know there are no easy fixtures and we will hit some bumps in the road but we have always kept the belief in our abilities. Scoring goals is always fun and we want to play a certain way that is entertaining so we know we will create chances, but we also know we will concede chances too.
A clean sheet for Jess Harper as well. You must be really pleased with how she has stepped up these last few weeks?
We are all so proud of Jess and really appreciate her stepping up. The clean sheet is reward for all the hard work she has put in with Nathan, our goalkeeping coach over the past few weeks
It was, from my memory, a record attendance at a Norwich match at The Nest this weekend. Was it great to have so much support behind you all?
The girls really appreciate the support they get, at home fixtures and on social media. We want to create role models and the way the girls behave and interact with the supporters at home fixtures is really inspiring. We are all conscious of making sure the games are enjoyable and exciting for the supporters, hopefully we do that and we continue to attract more supporters to The Nest
We return our attention back to the league now and play Cambridge United again, having faced them twice already this season. What can we learn from our earlier results to get something out of this game?
We will watch the games back and identify their strengths and where we can be a threat to them, as I am sure they will too. Games against Cambridge are always exciting and hopefully this one will be too.
