International round-up: City trio unused across World Cup and Under-21 Euro qualifiers

It was a quiet night for three Norwich City first-team players on Monday night, as Max Aarons, Tim Krul and Ozan Kabak endured a watching brief for their respective international sides.

Starting with Aarons, he sat on the bench for the entirety of England Under-21s' 1-0 victory in Andorra.

Sheffield United's Rhian Brewster was shown a red card on 55 minutes, giving the Young Lions an uphill battle in their quest for a winner, but Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe finished neatly on the counter on 67 minutes to clinch the three points for Lee Carsley's team.

In World Cup qualification, Kabak sat out Turkey's dramatic 2-1 victory over Latvia.

Kabak was suspended for their 1-1 draw with Norway on Friday night, and despite coming back into the squad for the trip to Riga, he witnessed the match from the substitutes' bench.

A Merih Demirel own goal gave the Latvians the lead with 20 minutes left, but Sendar Dursun's strike 15 minutes from time restored parity, and Burak Yilmaz fired home a last gasp penalty to see Turkey snatch all three points in the dying embers.

In the same group, Netherlands thrashed Gibraltar 6-0 in Rotterdam, with Krul left on the bench for the second successive game in this break.

Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Memphis Depay (2), Denzell Dumfries, Arnaut Danjuma and Donyell Malen contributed to a comprehensive win.
