Norwich City Under-18s goalkeeper Jayden St Paul felt the team deserved more from Saturday's 1-0 loss at home to West Bromwich Albion Under-18s.
"This one is the most frustrating one because it's the first game of the season when we've actually deserved to win the game," he said.
"On our side, we had loads of chances, really good opportunities and created well, but the end product wasn't there.
"From their side, we defended well for most of the game, but one mistake cost us. They had two shots on target and one goal.
"Taking our chances and stopping defensive mistakes is the target, but overall it is better because before we were giving away too many opportunities.
"In this game, you could count on one hand the opportunities they had, so a better performance overall.
"We were on the ball a lot more and were able to dominate the game a lot better."
The goal that City conceded came from Tobias Hurlock having time and space to find the bottom right corner from distance, the Canaries not closing him down quick enough.
"We gave the ball away and then it was a one-v-one," St Paul added. "If we pressed them a bit harder, then he probably wouldn't have got a shot off.
"It went through the legs and into the bottom corner, so a decent finish from him, but I still think we deserved something from the game.
"We've had so many different players coming in and out, either with someone having Covid or an injury each week.
"It's been hard to have the same players training every week in the same formations. Hopefully, when we get everyone back we can start to get into a rhythm.
"I've played a lot of games since I came in March, so getting a run of them and doing better in the last couple of games is something I can hopefully continue."
