Join City Giving and help people in Norfolk

Norwich City Community Sports Foundation has launched a monthly donation programme called City Giving, and is appealing to supporters to join in.

The club’s official charity uses the power of sport to drive inclusion for people with disabilities, boost mental health and wellbeing, and support people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Much of this work relies on its annual fundraising efforts and it is hoped that City Giving can play a major role to sustain and grow the charity’s reach and impact on those who need it most.

How does City Giving work?

Those who wish to support the Foundation can sign up to give monthly on the City Giving page.

Both individual and corporate giving is available and there are pre-determined donation levels that come with improved benefits for the donor as the amount increases.

Benefits for donors can include entry into a regular prize draw, free hot drinks at The Nest, and an invitation to be a Foundation guest at a Norwich City fixture.

Whom will I be helping?

Funds raised from City Giving are used to help groups such as the Foundation’s disability dance troupe, down’s syndrome football squad, or the Run for Me group, which aims to boost mental health.

Alex has down’s syndrome and finds it hard to communicate and develop relationships, which affects his confidence. The Foundation’s sessions help him to make friends and stay active in a safe environment.

When Brian’s wife passed away, his mental and physical health hit rock bottom. He became isolated and lonely and was diagnosed with depression.

Brian stumbled on the Foundation’s Run for Me group whilst online and began to attend the weekly running and social session. It provided him with some structure and a supportive group of people

Emma Fletcher-Dungay, the Foundation’s Senior Fundraising & Events Manager, explained the importance of the City Giving programme:

“The amount we can raise through our annual events is restricted by our resources, which in turn limits how many people we can reach.

“By joining City Giving, supporters can help us to reach many more people like Alex and Brian, whose wellbeing has been transformed by attending Foundation sessions.”

Season ticket holders are also able to return the direct debit form that will be enclosed in their renewal pack.
