City’s number 24 Josh Sargent added another goal to his tally of five so far this season, after a three-nil win over visitors Coventry on Saturday afternoon.
The US international spoke to canaries.co.uk after the match. He said: “I thought in the first half we created a lot of good chances, definitely could have scored a couple more.
“We kind of let off the gas a little in the second half, so credit to the subs for coming on and giving us that boost that we needed.
“Getting as many goals and assists you can as a forward only helps your confidence, so hopefully I can take that into the next game.”
The Canaries found it difficult to get going in the second half as Coventry pressed high and made it difficult for the home side going forward. Kieran Dowell contributed the third and final goal with ten minutes to go
“We dropped our standards a bit in the second half and in those situations, I think we know that we need to play better.
“We need to play up to our level and how we know we can play and put another couple of goals on top of the two that we scored in the first half.”
Aaron Ramsey made his way into the starting 11 again, pairing well with Sargent in the first half to create the second goal.
“Ramsey has fitted in very well as you can see, he has two assists now, both great assists for me, so I’m liking him a lot. He’s been very good for us and he’s getting to know a lot of the guys in the locker room.”
Norwich take on Burnley next at Turf Moor on Friday September 9. Speaking about how to prepare for the fixture, Sargent said: “Recovering as fast as possible is important, and we will prepare like any other game.
“We know it’s not going to be an easy one, but we have to come in mentally strong and play our football.”
The goal scorer picked up the August player of the month award earlier in the week and was pleased to have done so.
“It felt really good to win, big thanks obviously to the team for helping out with that and thanks to the fans.
“It’s a great achievement and hopefully I can carry that confidence into the next month.”
