Norwich City are delighted to announce that captain Kenny McLean has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

McLean has put pen to paper on a new deal that will extend his stay at the club to the summer of 2028, which will see him extend his stay at Carrow Road into a tenth season.

The 34-year-old signed for the club from Aberdeen in January 2018 and has gone on to feature in 310 appearances, scoring 15 times and assisting on 30 occasions.

He played a key role in City’s two Sky Bet Championship title-winning seasons in 2018/19 and 2020/21, as well as lifting the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy as the club’s Player of the Season on two occasions.

Following the 2025/26 season, the centre midfielder also won the club's PFA Community Champion Award in recognition of his outstanding work with the Community Sports Foundation and wider community.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk, McLean said: “I'm over the moon to know that I'm going to be here for the next couple of years – it's a place that me and my family call home.

“The environment I find myself in every day with the staff and the players is great to be amongst.

“I want more of that and I think everything is being laid now to bring that success to the football club. I'm desperate to be a part of that.”

Sporting Director Ben Knapper added: “Kenny couldn’t be more deserving of this extension, and we’re delighted to get it agreed and finalised.

“He sits at the heart of everything we’re doing here, and what he did last season was incredible. His performance level, consistency, and leadership are vital for us, and the way he represents the club both on and off the field is first class.

“He’s our captain and talisman, and he plays a huge part in driving daily standards, shaping our culture, and helping to develop and support our younger players. The way he has embraced that role whilst continuing to perform at the highest of levels is testament to his quality, character, and professionalism.

“He is Norwich City, and hopefully there will be many more special moments ahead for him here with us.”
