Norwich City’s number 10 Kieran Dowell helped the Canaries to victory over Millwall tonight, with an assist to Josh Sargent’s second goal.
“It was a great win tonight. It was tough in the first half, we knew they’d come with long balls. It was about getting our rhythm and finishing chances, so gladly Josh did and scored two great goals.
“The gaffer said at half time have a go more through the middle, don’t be so reluctant to go wide, so that’s how the first goal came, from me into Sarge and then he’s made a good play with Danel and finished it off.”
City take six points from six this week, following tonight’s victory and a win on Tuesday night against Huddersfield Town.
Dowell continued: “The performances have been decent. It’s just about getting over the line and winning games, which we’ve done the last two games, so now we can build a bit of momentum.”
Although Josh Sargent stole the show with his brace, his surrounding team mates also put on grounded performances to keep a clean sheet and guide Norwich to a second victory in four days.
“Andrew Omobamidele is brilliant to play with and he doesn’t break a sweat. Marcelino Núñez is really tidy on the ball and has fit in straight away with how we want to play and do things and he is great to play alongside.”
City return to Carrow road on Tuesday night to play AFC Bournemouth in round two of the Carabao Cup.
“You want games to come thick and fast when you’re winning, so we look forward to Bournemouth on Tuesday, and hopefully we stay in the next round of the cup.”
