Kieran Dowell says the players will take confidence from their performance against Manchester United going into the remaining games of the season.
The midfielder, who scored his first Premier League goal against the Reds, saw his team battle back from two goals down to level at Old Trafford before being undone by a Cristiano Ronaldo free kick.
Norwich have it all to do between now and the end of the season, being seven points adrift of safety with just six games remaining. However, Kieran says they should take confidence from how they played.
“I thought we showed loads of spirit from going 2-0 down to get back into the game at 2-2 and then Ronaldo has put one in the top corner from a free kick.
“It is pretty impressive to come to Old Trafford and to score two goals and it is harder to score three and four to win the game, so it is just one of them.
“I thought the tactics were good again. We felt that if we could get past their midfield line then we could get at their back four and it happened quite a few times. We probably didn’t capitalise on that enough, but it worked well at times. That performance should give us confidence going into Newcastle.”
Kieran also singled out Teemu Pukki for special praise. He helped set up his goal before then firing home his 10th of the season early in the second half.
“He is massive for us. I thought he was excellent. He didn’t stop running and he was leading the line on his own a lot of the time. We got around him, but I thought he was excellent.”
