Sporting director Ben Knapper joined new head coach Liam Manning at his first press conference on Monday, June 9, at Carrow Road.
When asked about what Knapper was looking for in the new head coach role and why he chose Manning, he said: "With Johannes (Hoff Thorup), it didn't pan out the way we hoped, but in Liam (Manning) we have someone who understands the league, knows the level and has demonstrated an ability to overachieve consistently in his career so far.
"The job that he did at MK Dons impressed me; he's someone we've been aware of for a long time, even before this season.
"I think a combination of his human side, the ambition, the drive and humility was big, an understanding of how to build culture, the kind we want at the training ground and of course the technical side, playing side, adaptability and pragmatism; all things we lacked last year.
"We've worked closely already, today is his first day together with us in the office but we spoke whilst he was away on holiday, so I'm probably not in his wife's good books, but this is a busy time of year, there is lots going on.
"We've prepared for this for a long time, so a lot of that work is already done. Things can develop quickly at this time of day but were really excited to get going."
Knapper went into further detail about the process of bringing Liam to the club and what can be expected from the year ahead.
"Thats what we're here for; results. We've got big ambitions, the owners and the board and myself are clear about that; we want to achieve big things and the only way to do that is with results.
"We didn't feel like we were doing that last year. We don't hide away from the fact that results are important and, in Liam, we've got someone who can really drive us forward.
"It's intense working in elite sport; you spend a lot of time together so the people you work with is the most important thing.
"We spend more time with each other than our families, so you need to be with people you share the same values with and there's a good connection. I'm really excited to work with him, he will fit really well in to what we're trying to do."
In his final message to fans, he said he simply hoped they were as excited as him.
The sporting director outlined the ambitions that the club have for the coming years under Liam who has joined on a four-year contract.
"It's one of excitement, I hope they can be excited by this and what we are trying to achieve.
"Yes, we have a young group but that doesn't mean we are happy to meander along, we understand things take time but there needs to be progress as a team and at an individual level.
"The owners have got really clear, ambitious targets. We have't got time to waste, we need to have a feeling we are moving closer to these targets, which is why we recruited Liam. We're looking forward to this season, its an important one."
