Adam Idah's 96th-minute strike gifted Norwich City three points on their opening outing of the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season.
The Republic of Ireland international was a late substitute on the day, and his vital touch to poke home at the death was enough to get the Canaries the win against Hull City.
Earlier in the contest, Jonathan Rowe had levelled in first-half added time after Liam Delap had put the visitors in front.
The excitement of the opening day of the campaign was visible both in the stands and on the pitch.
Both teams looking refreshed and the downpour making it easy to zip the ball around the pitch at pace.
Norwich had the chances early on - Gabriel Sara's snapshot just going right of the goal while Rowe had Matt Ingram worried with a low effort, but again it was off target.
But, as it was in February when the sides met in NR1, Hull took the lead against the run of play.
A mix-up at the back allowed Delap a chance to go through on goal and he fired to the roof of the net.
The response from Norwich was positive, quickly going close to an equaliser but Onel Hernández was denied. As he was when a short corner routine made it's way to him in a congested penalty area soon after.
The chances continued to come for the Canaries, Shane Duffy headed on to the post, before Jack Stacey put his attempt over the crossbar, followed by Hernández doing the same.
Norwich finally breached Hull in first-half added time when Rowe unleashed a powerful curling effort to the top corner.
On his first start for the first team, it was a good way to cap off a solid opening 45 minutes of the season for the winger.
The leveller spurred Norwich on after the restart, again on the front foot.
Similarly to the first half though, the chances just wouldn't hit the net. There was also a strong penalty claim for handball waved away despite the protests of Duffy and Rowe.
When Hull came on the break, Delap was the danger again and his run and shot ended with an incredible save from Angus Gunn.
Newly introduced Marcelino Núñez went close from 35 yards, his strike tipped on to the crossbar by Ingram on its way through.
As Norwich continued to pepper the Hull goal, it looked as though it would be one of those days. Until Idah popped up in the sixth minute of added time, reacting quickest to a cross that had caused issues for Hull.
