Today marks the first day of Learning at Work Week, where we celebrate building learning cultures at work.

To put a spotlight on the importance of continual learning and development in the workplace, we spoke to two of our recent apprentice graduates on the benefits of learning at work.

Lewis Plaistow, a business administration apprentice of two years said: “I started out as a kitchen porter at the football club and noticed an advert for this role on canaries.co.uk.

“I started the apprenticeship not really knowing what I wanted to do, but over the two years it has allowed me to explore different areas of the club and find out what interests me.

“I believe the experience and the opportunities I have gained at Norwich City are invaluable. I feel as though it has allowed me a lot of freedom along with my studies, but also a lot of on-the-job experience, which now sets me apart from other people.”

Pippa Souster has also recently completed an apprenticeship, specialising in catering and commercial. She said: “The apprenticeship wasn’t the exact department I wanted to be in, but I saw an opportunity to learn more about events and to get my foot in the door.

“It has now helped me join the events team full-time since graduating. The thing I loved the most was creating relationships with my colleagues and customers, as it has made me become so much more confident in myself.

“There are so many different opportunities here and the working environment is great."
