Loan round up: Aston Oxborough makes his debut for Barnet in win at Dover

Aston Oxborough made his long-awaited return from injury as he started in goal for Conference side Barnet as they beat Dover Athletic.

Aston had been out of action for 18 months, after rupturing his achilles tendon while on trial at Salford City ahead of the start of last season. Prior to that he had been performing well for Wealdstone on loan but their season was cut short in March 2020, due to the pandemic.

Despite having been out of action for a year and a half, there was no rustiness in Aston's performance as he saved well from Koby Arthurs and Matthew Bentley after Barnet had taken an early lead through Mason Bloomfield.

Barnet extended their advantage through Daniel Powell and, while Aston did concede midway through the second half, the Bees comfortably held on for the points.

Sam Blair was also in goal for Bury Town, but unfortunately they were beaten 2-0 at home by Wisbech Town in the FA Trophy.

Due to the international break, there was only one other player out on loan who featured for his club, with Dan Adshead starting Gillingham's game at home to Wycombe Wanderers. However, Steve Evans' side conceded two early goals and Adshead was replaced at half-time by Stuart O'Keefe.

Players who were in their club's matchday squads but didn't play: Daniel Barden (Livingston), Tyrese Omotoye (Leyton Orient).
