Loan round-up: Drmic nets late brace for HNK Rijeka

Norwich City loanee Josip Drmic was HNK Rijeka’s saviour on Saturday as he scored twice in the final 13 minutes of their 2-1 win at home to Slaven Belupo.

After coming from behind to win the game, Rijeka are now third in the 1. HNL, level on points with Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb above them.

A quartet of City loanees were in Championship action on the weekend. Onel Hernandez made his debut for Middlesbrough as they were beaten 2-0 at Coventry City.

Neil Warnock’s side are now 15th in the division with six points from six games.

West Bromwich Albion remain at the top of the league following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Millwall, with Jordan Hugill coming on at half-time in that game.

Queens Park Rangers are just two points behind them after Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Reading, where Sam McCallum featured for 72 minutes.

Meanwhile, Danel Sinani came on in the 68th minute of Huddersfield Town’s 2-1 loss at Stoke City. The Terriers are now ninth in the Championship with ten points from six games.

Two City loanees featured in League One on Saturday, Daniel Adshead playing 89 minutes of Gillingham’s 1-1 draw at Burton Albion and Akin Famewo playing all of Charlton Athletic’s 2-1 loss at home to Cheltenham Town.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are at the top of the Scottish Championship with five wins from five, Reece McAlear coming on the 83rd minute of their latest 3-1 victory at home to Partick Thistle.

Over in Iceland, Isak Thorvaldsson played all of IA Akranes’ 3-1 win at home to Leiknir Reykjavik on Saturday to go twelfth in the Urvalsdeild.

Sebastian Soto came on in the 58th minute as FC Porto B won 3-1 at home to C.D. Mafra on Sunday. Porto are now seventh in the LigaPro with eight points from five games.

Finally, Academy goalkeeper Sam Blair enjoyed a 2-1 win with Bury Town as they beat Heybridge Swifts in the Isthmian League North Division on Saturday.
