He netted six minutes into the Bluebirds’ 2-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest and won the man of the match award. Cardiff are now 20th in the Sky Bet Championship.

For Charlton Athletic, their Papa John’s Trophy journey came to an end at Hartlepool on Tuesday. Akin Famewo played 90 minutes as the Addicks drew 2-2 before losing 5-4 on penalties.

Two City loanees were involved in League One’s relegation battle last week. Tom Dickson-Peters came on in the 58th minute of Gillingham’s 0-0 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday.

They’re now 23rd, one place above Doncaster Rovers, who lost 3-1 at home to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, Josh Martin playing 74 minutes of that game.

In League Two, Tyrese Omotoye played an hour of Carlisle United’s 2-0 loss at home to Sutton United on Saturday. Carlisle are now 20th in the division.

Over in Scotland, Rocky Bushiri played 90 minutes of Hibernian’s 0-0 draw at Motherwell on Wednesday to keep a clean sheet, and came on in the 22nd minute of Saturday’s 3-2 loss at home to Livingston.

Hibs are now fifth in the Scottish Premiership.

In the second tier, Inverness Caledonian Thistle are third in the Scottish Championship, two points behind Kilmarnock and three shy of Arbroath after Saturday’s 1-0 loss away to the former.

In the Vanarama National League, Matthew Dennis played 82 minutes as Southend United beat Dover Athletic 1-0 away from home to go 16th after a run of six league games unbeaten.

Bury Town beat Dereham Town 3-2 at home on Saturday to go twelfth in the Isthmian League North Division, Sam Blair playing 90 minutes.

Josip Drmic scored a hat-trick in HNK Rijeka’s 3-0 friendly win at home to Triglav Kranj on Wednesday, before featuring in Sunday’s 2-0 league loss away to Dinamo Zagreb.

Rijeka are now third in the 1. HNL, three points behind Zagreb.
