Academy goalkeeper Archie Mair has been recalled from his loan spell at Vanarama National League side Gateshead, and has joined Sky Bet League Two side Morecambe on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has spent the first half of the 2023/24 campaign with Gateshead, where he has made 25 appearances for the club, keeping seven clean sheets.

Mair had a previous loan spell with Notts County, where his penalty shoot-out heroics in the play-off final sent Luke Williams' side into the Football League.

The goalkeeper joined the Canaries from Aberdeen in 2019, and has had temporary spells with Dartford and King's Lynn Town since then.

Head of goalkeeping Paul Clements said: “Archie has been on loan in the National League this season and has done really well, as we very much expected he would. That has led to a lot of EFL clubs asking about his availability and we want to take this opportunity to test Archie at a higher level.

“He has had a productive season so far. We’re glad that we can now get Archie in at Morecambe and this will hopefully help him progress his career further.”

All at Norwich City wish Archie well with the loan move.
