Match preview: Norwich City U23s v Aston Villa U23s

Making their return after the international break, Norwich City host Aston Villa at Carrow Road on Friday evening (7pm KO).

In our match preview, we’ll be taking a look at the Villans campaign so far, and outlining how you can watch our young Canaries live!

The opposition

One of four teams still unbeaten in the Premier League 2 Division 2 so far this season, Aston Villa are the team to beat.

Scoring eight goals and conceding just four in their three games, Villa have shown both ends of a compact defence and clinical attack, mainly highlighted in their season opening 5-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

Fulham denied the Villans their third win of the campaign after their 1-1 draw before the international break, leaving this Friday’s visitors with seven points from a possible nine.

Meanwhile, the young Canaries have fought tooth and nail for their six points from nine after a last-minute 4-3 win over Sunderland at the Academy of Light.

A back-and-forth between the sides took the score to 3-3 until the 90th minute, when centre-half and U23s captain Jon Tomkinson found the back of the net with his diving header.
