Norwich City’s free-flowing Under-23s welcome Southampton Under-23s to Lotus Training Centre for Friday’s Premier League 2 Division Two fixture at 7pm.
Alan Neilson’s side are fourth in the division with 23 points from 14 games, having scored 39 goals and conceded 30.
City will be looking to make it three in a row having won recent league games 5-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers U23s and 5-2 against Reading U23s.
Southampton lost their last league game 3-0 to Stoke City U23s, falling to with with 17 points.
Norwich U23s midfielder Liam Gibbs is in high spirits ahead of Friday’s game.
“We played Southampton in our first game of the season and played really well to win the game,” he said. “It will be different because they’ll be more ready for us this time. We’ve got a few tired legs from our game on Monday, but we’re all preparing and recovering right so hopefully we go into the game positive and come away with the win.
“We’ve had a really good first half of the season up until Christmas. We started really well, had a little bit of a rough patch, and now have picked up again in the league especially.
“We’ve struggled in the Premier League Cup, losing our most recent game to Derby, which was a tough game, but we definitely learnt from it and are hoping to put a good performance in on Friday.
“It’s always good when your front players are putting the ball in the back of the net. It gives you opportunities to get assists as a midfield player, which I love to do, so it’s nice to see them scoring a lot of goals.
“Things are going really well. I’ve adapted my game slightly and play in a slightly different role. I’m able to affect games positively in and out of possession and I’ve still managed to get some assists to my name which is always a positive.”
