Norwich City host Newcastle United in the Premier League at 3pm on Saturday at Carrow Road.

The Canaries put in a positive performance last time out at Old Trafford against Manchester United, but lost 3-2. There was a first Premier League goal for Kieran Dowell as well as Teemu Pukki’s 10th goal of the season in that match.

The opposition:

Newcastle United on the other hand have been in a rich vein of form, winning nine out of their last thirteen matches as well as their last three consecutive games, beating Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Wolves all at St James’ Park.

This form has seen the Magpies climb out of the relegation zone, they currently sit in 11th place in the league table amassing 40 points so far and are now closer to fourth place than 20th place.

Newcastle’s leading goal scorer this season is the currently-injured Callum Wilson who is on six goals while January’s new signing Bruno Guimarães sits third in the Magpies goalscoring chart with three goals since his arrival.

Fellow winter arrivals Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier have both scored twice since joining the club three months ago.

Head-to-head:

Norwich have faced Newcastle 59 times in total since 1934, the Canaries winning 17 of those games whilst the Magpies have won 24 times and there have been 18 draws between the two sides.

We are unbeaten in the last four ties between the two sides with the game earlier in the season ending in a 1-1 draw.

A 79th minute volley from Teemu saw us come away from St James’ Park with a point after Callum Wilson’s 61st minute penalty saw us initially go behind.
