Norwich City Women return to The Nest on Sunday afternoon for the first home game of the campaign, hosting Cambridge United Women in a 2pm kick-off.
City picked up their first win of the 2024/25 season on the opening day of Division One South East, narrowly beating out the newly-promoted Dulwich Hamlet 3-2 at Champion Hill.
The Hamlets opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, but the Canaries hit back with an instant response, Shannon Shaw finding the equaliser.
Hope Strauss converted a penalty in the second half to put City in front for the first time and Ellie Smith extended the lead with seven minutes left on the clock.
The Opposition
The U's opened their season last weekend with a 1-0 loss to Actonians on home turf, Dior Knorr scoring the only goal in the first half.
Last season saw Darren Marjoram’s side finish seventh in the table on 31 points, with eight wins, seven draws and seven losses.
City’s last home game against United was hosted in front of 5,000 fans at Carrow Road, ending in a 1-1 draw thanks to Megan Todd’s equalising penalty.
Head to Head
Norwich have faced United 18 times since 2014, resulting in nine wins for the Canaries, seven wins for Cambridge and two draws.
