Norwich City are back at Carrow Road this weekend for Saturday’s Premier League game against Brentford (3pm kick-off).
We will be hoping to get back to winning ways following Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat away to Liverpool in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
The opposition
Brentford began the season strongly, losing just one of their first seven Premier League games to remain in the top half of the table until mid-October.
However, a run of four consecutive defeats followed and, more recently, Thomas Frank’s side have gone nine games without a win in all competitions.
Last weekend, the Bees lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle United, a result that left them 15th in the league and seven points ahead of Norwich, who have a game in hand.
Ivan Toney is the club’s top scorer so far this season with eight goals across 26 appearances in all competitions.
Brentford made one of the biggest signings of the January transfer window when Christian Eriksen joined the club on deadline day.
Head-to-head
Norwich and Brentford have met 61 times since 1920. There have been 28 Norwich wins, 22 Brentford wins and 11 draws.
Last time we met was for Daniel Farke’s final game as Norwich City head coach, goals from Mathias Normann and Teemu Pukki securing a 2-1 win at the Brentford Community Stadium in November.
Brentford’s previous visit to Carrow Road came in March, Emi Buendia’s goal the difference that day as Norwich battled to the Sky Bet Championship title.
Ref watch
Anthony Taylor has been appointed to take charge of Saturday’s game, Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn his assistants and Gavin Ward the fourth official. John Brooks and Neil Davies are on VAR duties.
