Norwich City return to Carrow Road for Saturday evening’s Premier League game against Manchester United.
Dean Smith’s Canaries remain unbeaten at home, while United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick searches for his first win on the road.
The opposition
It’s been an eventful season for United, who began their Premier League campaign strongly.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side got four wins and one draw from their opening five games against Leeds United, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United.
However, a period of just one league win in seven matches followed from September 25 to November 28, a 4-1 defeat to Watford the final nail in the coffin for Solskjaer’s reign.
Michael Carrick assumed the role of caretaker manager for a 1-1 draw against Chelsea and a 3-2 win at home to Arsenal, before Rangnick was officially revealed.
He won his first game in charge with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace on Sunday, Fred scoring the game’s only goal in the 77th minute.
United, who are sixth in the Premier League, were also involved in midweek UEFA Champions League action against Young Boys, the sides drawing 1-1 at Old Trafford.
Head-to-head
Of the 72 meetings between Norwich and United since 1906, there have been 17 Norwich wins, 40 United wins and 15 draws.
Last time we met, the Canaries took an FA Cup quarter-final to extra-time at Carrow Road in June 2020 thanks to Todd Cantwell’s 75th minute equaliser, but Harry Maguire scored in the 118th minute to knock City out.
Ref watch
David Coote has been appointed to take charge of Saturday's game, Stuart Burt and Harry Lennard his assistants. Graham Scott is the fourth official.
Peter Bankes and Ian Hussin are in charge of VAR.
