Norwich City are on the road on Tuesday, October 4, with a trip to Reading for a second v third clash (KO 8pm).
After returning to winning ways against Blackpool at the weekend, the Canaries have a chance to extend the gap between second and third to five points.
A win against Paul Ince's side would see them keep the pace with league leaders Sheffield United.
The opposition
After finishing 21st last season, Reading have started the new campaign positively with seven wins from their 11 games to date.
However, their goal difference remains -2 due to some heavy defeats on the road.
Five of their seven wins have come at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. Their only league defeat at home this season was a 3-0 loss to Sunderland.
Most recently, they beat Huddersfield 3-1 to make it back-to-back victories and put them into third spot.
Head-to-head
There have been 79 meetings between the two teams with Norwich's 31 wins giving them the upper hand down through the years. There have been 19 draws while Reading can boast 29 wins.
That tally of victories has been boosted by six wins and a draw in the seven games since Reading last beat Norwich on Boxing Day in 2016.
The last meeting between the two sides was May 2021 when the club were presented with the Sky Bet Championship trophy after a 4-1 win.
Ref watch
Refereeing the game on the night will be Darren Bond, assisted by Philip Dermott and Matthew Smith. The fourth official will be John Busby.
