Norwich City fell to a 3-0 defeat against Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge KV in their second pre-season fixture of the 2024/25 campaign.
The first of two games in Belgium, Johannes Hoff Thorup included the returning Adam Idah in his starting line-up in Roeselare.
Former Canary Christos Tzolis was in the starting line-up for Club Brugge, who also had former Liverpool and Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in goal.
The Belgian champions begin their competitive season on July 20, playing Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Super Cup and played the Canaries in their fourth game of pre-season.
The hosts started out the brighter side and took the lead after only four minutes through Hans Vanaken. The Brugge captain slotted the ball home from a tight angle.
And four minutes later, the Belgian side made it two as Gustaf Nilsson finished beyond George Long.
Tzolis hit the frame of the goal in the 17th minute as Brugge continued to apply pressure but it was followed by the Canaries first good spell.
Borja Sainz stole possession in a good position but dragged his shot wide, and Abu Kamara twisted and turned his way into the Brugge penalty area before his cross was cut out at the near post.
The Canaries began the second half with more control, but it would be the Belgian side who would score the next goal. Ferran Jutglà had his effort deflected past the Norwich goalkeeper for their third.
Thorup made a number of changes just after the hour mark, introducing a host of younger players for the final 30 minutes.
Brugge would see out the remainder of the second half in a professional manner, finishing as 3-0 winners. They begin their league campaign on Saturday, July 26.
Norwich's pre-season campaign continues on Saturday when they face Standard Liège.
