Match Report | Coventry City 0-1 Norwich City

Norwich City claimed their first Sky Bet Championship victory of the season, winning 1-0 away to Coventry City.

Johannes Hoff Thorup named the same side that drew with Sheffield United the previous weekend, with Anis Ben Slimane joining the bench after his move from the Blades.

The game's first chance fell to the hosts, but Ellis Simms dragged his effort wide of the post.

Shane Duffy registered Norwich's first chance, rising highest from a corner but saw his header go just off-target.

Angus Gunn was called into action just after the 10-minute mark, saving at his near post with his feet to deny Haji Wright.

The Canaries almost had a golden opportunity to take the lead as Amankwah Forson played Jack Stacey through. The right-back couldn't quite bring the ball under control, however.

Slimane would be introduced for his Norwich debut at half-time, being introduced alongside Oscar Schwartau.

Four minutes into the second half, Norwich were ahead. Stacey's cross came to Borja Sainz, whose effort took a deflection beyond Oliver Dovin in the Coventry goal.

Ephron Mason-Clarke forced Gunn into another save at his near post, putting the effort wide with his feet.

Sainz tried his luck from the edge of the area, seeing a curled effort go just wide of the post as he almost added his and Norwich's second.

Both sides had half-chances, but nothing clear cut as Norwich would hold on to claim their first three points of the 2024/25 campaign.

After the international break, the Canaries are on their travels once more as they face Swansea City away from home.
