Teemu Pukki netted the fastest goal of the Premier League season as Norwich City stormed into an early lead against Crystal Palace.
However, a stunning second-half equaliser from Wilfried Zaha got the visitors back on terms on terms as Norwich had to settle for a point.
Head coach Dean Smith made two changes from the side that played the last Premier League game for Norwich City – a 3-0 win over Watford – as Przemysław Płacheta and Kenny McLean replaced Josh Sargent and Jacob Sørensen.
Norwich got off to the perfect start scoring the fastest Premier League goal this season through Pukki. The move came down the left as Milot Rashica, a danger throughout the first half, got in behind Joel Ward and played a low cross into the area that Adam Idah teed up perfectly for Pukki to fire a shot in off the post.
The Canaries frustrated their hosts for the next 15 minutes as Palace searched for a way back into the game. Kenny McLean successfully snuffed out the threat of their leading scorer Conor Gallagher; winning possession off him three times in the opening 20 minutes. Elsewhere Max Aarons was successfully marshalling Wilfried Zaha, whose best first half effort went through the young Norwich full-back's legs and wide of the goal.
Pukki had a couple of chances to extend the Canaries' advantage in the first half but headed a Rashica cross wide on 19 minutes before then picking up a square pass from the Kosovan in the area only to take a touch, rather than hitting an effort first-time, which allowed the visiting defenders to clear the danger.\

Norwich were guilty of some sloppy play on the edge of their own box around the 35 minute mark, which allowed Zaha another sight at goal. However, his effort deflected wide. Then Jean-Phillippe Mateta also had the ball in the back of the net as the half drew to a close but he was a yard offside when he collected the ball and, despite the flag going up late, VAR didn't take long to decide that the referee's assistant's decision was correct.
Rashica was first to go close in the second half as he lined up an effort from 30 yards out that almost found its way into the bottom corner.
However, three minutes later and Angus Gunn had to dive smartly to his left to push a Jeffrey Schlupp half volley around his post.
However, there was nothing Gunn could do about Zaha's effort on 59 minutes; the Ivorian cutting in from the left touchline and unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew over his head and into the far corner of the net.
Then two minutes later the game looked to have turned on its head when Tyrick Mitchell got the wrong side of Aarons and drew a foul from him inside the box. However, Zaha stepped up to take the penalty and scuffed an effort two yards wide.
Crystal Palace were then given another good chance to nudge themselves in front on 72 minutes when McLean was adjudged to have tripped Gallagher 20 yards from goal, but the Chelsea-loanee's free kick was well saved by Gunn.\

On 75 minutes Mateta then attempted to win a penalty off Gunn, but was correctly cautioned for diving. Norwich City hit back though as Gilmour corner was flicked on by Grant Hanley for Pukki to nod over from close range, via a deflection.
However, neither side was able to create another clearcut opening in the final 10 minutes and both teams had to settle for a point.
