Second half goals from Jamie Vardy (2) and James Maddison sent Norwich City to an away defeat at the King Power Stadium.

Head coach Dean Smith made four changes to the starting line-up as Angus Gunn, Dimitris Giannoulis, Lukas Rupp and Tony Springett came into the side at the expense of Tim Krul, Brandon Williams, Jacob Sørensen and Kieran Dowell. Norwich started the match nervously and with Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy firing early efforts over before Gunn made a double save to deny Maddison and then Vardy with a follow up effort.

Maddison then tested Gunn once more with a shot to his near post, before on the counter Milot Rashica raced away and almost found Springett unmarked in the box. Kasper Schmeichel dived at his feet to claw the ball away from the Canaries youngster and then got up smartly to block Teemu Pukki's follow-up shot. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall then got to the byline and pulled a ball back for Ademola Lookman to fire towards goal but he was denied by an instinctive stop from Gunn, with blocked with his outstretched foot. However, in an end-to-end first half, back came Norwich as first Billy Gilmour tested Schmeichel with a long-range shot and then Grant Hanley sent a header on target. It was in first half stoppage time when the Canaries should have taken the lead though as Springett played in Pukki and he rounded Daniel Amartey before sliding a shot past the Leicester City goalkeeper that cannoned off the base of the post.

The home side came out with a renewed purpose in the second half though and upped the tempo as Vardy hit a volley that Hanley blocked well. It was a sign of things to come as three minutes late the same player squared up Hanley in the box once more and this time his effort took a fortunate deflection of the defender and looped over Gunn and into the back of the net.

From there, Norwich were forced to chase the game which suited Leicester counter-attacking style. Harvey Barnes then slid Vardy in for number two, just past the hour and the striker, on his return from injury blasted a shot past Gunn at his near post.

The scoring was then completed 20 minutes from time, Dewsbury-Hall's low cross was palmed away by Gunn only for the rebound to fall kindly for Maddison who rifled a shot into the roof of the net.
