Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick for Manchester City as the league leaders won 4-0 at Carrow Road.
The England international opened the scoring with a good curling finish, before then nodding home at the back post following an intelligent header from Ruben Dias midway through the second half after Phil Foden had already doubled the visitors' advantage. The scoring was then completed as he tucked home a rebound from a softly-awarded penalty with less than a minute of normal time remaining.
Head coach Dean Smith made two changes from the side that drew with Crystal Palace last time out as Josh Sargent and Billy Gilmour came into the starting XI. Adam Idah was one of the players to drop out through injury, while Przemysław Płacheta was named among the substitutes.
Norwich were first to go close as a long kick forward from Angus Gunn set Milot Rashica in on goal but Kyle Walker recovered well to get a tackle in just as the Kosovan was about to fire at goal.
Manchester City quickly got control of possession though and went close as Bernardo Silva hit an effort against the inside of the post before İlkay Gündoğan tested Angus Gunn with a header.
Brandon Williams, who was getting boos from the visiting support for his Manchester United connections, then robbed the Citizens of possession before setting up Teemu Pukki who brought a save out of Ederson.
Then came the Canaries best chance of the first half as a corner was recycled well on the left, allowing Pierre Lees-Melou to send a ball into the box that Grant Hanley headed against the post before Fernandinho cleared away the danger under pressure from Gibson.
Gunn continued to produce some good saves in the Norwich City goal, blocking an effort from Sterling with his feet. However, he could do nothing about the opener as Kyle Walker's cross was deflected into the path of Sterling, who then cut inside and curled a shot over his head and into the corner of the net.
A lovely flowing move from City then set up Kenny McLean with a shooting chance from 20 yards out but he didn't catch the effort well and his shot ended up wide of the mark.
At the other end Gunn had to save once more from Riyad Mahrez to keep the score at 1-0 going into the break.
Two minutes into the second half and Manchester City doubled their advantage when Gündoğan got in on the right and played a ball across the face of the goal. Following a scramble to clear the ball, at the second attempt, Phil Foden knocked the ball over the line despite the best efforts of Grant Hanley to boot the ball away.
Aké then went close to making it 3-0 on 52 minutes when a corner was flicked on towards the back post but his sliding volley ended up over the crossbar.
Norwich tried to hit back on the hour mark as McLean won the ball back high up the pitch and fed the ball into Rashica but his curling effort towards goal was saved by Ederson.
Shortly after Smith made a double change bringing on Mathias Normann and Sam Bryam for Max Aarons and Lees-Melou.
However, Manchester City were then 3-0 up on 69 minutes as a cross to the back post was headed across goal by Ruben Dias for Sterling to nod home at the back post.
In the minutes that remained Norwich got into some good attacking areas on the counter attack but the final ball was missing. Manchester City then won a penalty in stoppage time when Andre Marriner adjudged that Liam Delap had been tripped by Hanley in the box. Sterling stepped up to take the kick. His penalty was saved by Gunn, but he followed up to tap the rebound home from close range.
