Norwich City ended 2025 in defeat, losing 1-0 at home to Watford in the Sky Bet Championship at Carrow Road.

Lucien Mahovo, Jacob Wright and Tony Springett were introduced to Philippe Clement's starting line-up, as the Belgian made three changes from the Boxing Day win against Charlton Athletic.

The game's first chances fell to Norwich. First, Josh Sargent's effort went across the face of goal, before Kenny McLean's shot was narrowly wide of Egil Selvik's post.

Tom Ince threatened for the away side, bringing down Giorgi Chakvetadze's cross before volleying wide.

Chakvetadze was behind the next chance for Watford, with the Georgian's long-range attempt going off-target.

Watford then came within inches of finding the opener as Max Alleyne's side-footed effort struck the post.

In the second half, Sargent threatened for Norwich but his shot was straight at Selvik.

Two substitutes nearly combined for the opener for the Canaries, as Ben Chrisene's cross was just out of the reach for the jumping Jovon Makama.

Vladan Kovačević made a fantastic stop to deny Mattie Pollock's header, before the linesman raised his flag for offside.

But late on, Watford took the lead. Vivaldo Semedo's effort squeezed beyond Kovačević to secure all the three points for Watford.

The Canaries are in action on New Year's Day, travelling to Loftus Road to face Queens Park Rangers.
