Josh Sargent scored in injury time as Norwich City claimed a 1-0 win at home to West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship.

Angus Gunn returned to Johannes Hoff Thorup's line-up in NR1, with Jack Stacey and Anis Ben Slimane making starts against the Baggies. Matěj Jurásek made his return from injury and was named on the bench.

The away side had the game's first opportunity, as Karlan Grant fired at goal. Gunn did enough to push it wide of his goal.

Gunn was called into action once again straight after, getting down brilliantly to deny Torbjørn Heggem's header.

Norwich's first chance came via Sargent whose effort was stopped well by Joe Wildsmith, before Ante Crnac's second effort was curled wide of the post.

Gunn did well to push another Grant effort away, before Mason Holgate had the ball in the back of the net for the Baggies, but the linesman had already flagged for offside.

Borja Sainz saw an effort flash wide of Wildsmith's post after the Spaniard was found by Fisher on the edge of the box.

The Spaniard had the first chance in the second half, but Sainz's effort was straight at the West Brom goalkeeper.

In a quiet second half, Marcelino Núñez's free-kick was the best opportunity on goal. The Chilean's effort went wide of Wildsmith's post.

As the game drew to a close, there would be a late twist as Sargent surged forward and finished beyond Wildsmith to claim all three points for Norwich.

There was almost even more late drama at Carrow Road, as Gunn made a remarkable stop to deny a West Brom effort before Ruiari McConville cleared the follow up off the line.

The Canaries are back in Championship action next weekend, making the trip to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle (KO 3pm).
