Norwich City had to settle for a point in the Sky Bet Championship, drawing 1-1 at home to Oxford United in the Friday night fixture.

Vicente Reyes made his debut for the club, replacing Angus Gunn who missed out through injury. Dan Barden returned from his loan at Swindon Town for a place on the bench.

Ante Crnac, Jack Stacey and Jacob Wright were also named in Johannes Hoff Thorup's starting line-up in NR1, as Callum Doyle returned from suspension.

And Reyes was called into action inside the opening minute, saving well from Ole Romeny's effort.

Norwich's first chance of the game led to the opener. Doyle found Kellen Fisher and the right-back's ball across goal was perfect for Josh Sargent, who finished beyond Jamie Cumming.

Oxford would find a leveller not long after, however. A long throw from Will Vaulks ricocheted off a couple of Norwich defenders, with Mark Harris reacting quickest to squeeze an effort past Reyes.

As the first half went on, Borja Sainz met a dipping ball with a volley, but the Spaniard couldn't quite catch it right as Cumming claimed.

Sargent did put the ball in the back of the net once again, but the American's goal would be ruled out for offside.

Crnac had the first chance of the second half, volleying well but the shot was straight at Cumming.

The Croatian was behind the next chance from the Canaries, seeing his venomous shot parried over by the Oxford goalkeeper.

Sainz could've won it for Norwich in the dying embers, but the Spaniard's side-footed finish was put behind by Cumming.

There wouldn't be a winner for either side, as the points were shared at Carrow Road.

The Canaries are in action again on Tuesday night as Sheffield Wednesday visit (KO 7.45pm).
