Match Report | Norwich City 2-0 King's Lynn Town

Norwich City began their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Norfolk neighbours King’s Lynn Town at the Avant Training Centre.

Norwich City began their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Norfolk neighbours King’s Lynn Town at the Avant Training Centre.

Goals from Luke Towler and Dylan Jones either side of the half-time whistle secure Clement’s side the win.

Summer signing Bruno Alves started at centre back as Philippe Clement named a strong line-up for the first 45 which also featured the returning Lucien Mahovo, who missed the end of last season through injury.

Paris Maghoma had City's best opportunity in the opening stages when he was set up on the edge of the box. His shot across the goalkeeper went just over the bar.

Towler was introduced midway through the first half, replacing Mathias Kvistgaarden, and the midfielder opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time when Mahovo’s low cross was met by the substitute in the six-yard box.

The Canaries returned for the second 45 with a changed eleven featuring six academy graduates, captained by Northern Ireland international Ruairi McConville.

Despite City spending much of the half camped inside King’s Lynn territory, it wasn’t until the 70th minute when the Canaries had their first real chance, as Liam Gibbs’ free-kick curled narrowly over.

Striker Jones, who spent the second half of last season out on loan at Tranmere, was on hand to double the Canaries’ lead ten minutes from time, having been presented with an open net to finish into after initial good work by Errol Mundle-Smith.

Pre-season preparations intensify this week, ahead of the Canaries' second match behind closed doors at the Avant Training Centre against Colchester United.
