Match Report | Norwich City 4-0 Hull City

Norwich City produced a brilliant performance as they were 4-0 winners at home to Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Marcelino Núñez and Josh Sargent struck in the first half, with second half goals coming from Kaide Gordon and Borja Sainz.

Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup named an unchanged side from Tuesday night's draw at home to Leeds United, with recent arrival Emiliano Marcondes named on the bench.

Cody Drameh had the game's first chance just before the 10-minute mark, but fired over the crossbar with his effort.

Norwich's opening opportunity came only moments later as Sargent put Sainz through. The Spaniard attempted to lift the ball over the on-rushing Ivor Pandur, but the Hull goalkeeper palmed the ball wide for a corner.

Núñez was next to be presented with a chance one-on-one, but the Canaries were denied once again by Pandur.

Angus Gunn was then called into action for the first time, with a shot from Liam Millar needing to be tipped over the bar.

Núñez would be the player to open the scoring just after 15 minutes. Sainz came inside and fed the Chilean, who found the top corner with a fantastic effort.

And the lead was doubled less than five minutes later. A free-flowing Canaries move saw Sainz put the ball across goal for Sargent to tap in to score.

There was almost a third Norwich goal as Sargent found Anis Ben Slimane on the edge of the area, but his effort flashed wide of the post.

Norwich had the chance to add a third from the penalty spot after the break as Núñez's volley struck the hand of a Hull defender, but Sargent saw his spot-kick hit the post.

Hull had a couple of chances to reduce the deficit in the second half. First, Mohamed Belloumi hit the woodwork with a free-kick before Charlie Hughes could only find the side-netting with an effort moments later.

But the next goal would be Norwich's. The away side failed to clear their lines and Gordon won the ball back and squeezed his effort beyond Pandur for the third and his first for the club.

And Sainz would add City's fourth. A long ball forward by Doyle was brought down well by the Spaniard and with Pandur way off his line, he lifted the ball over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

There was almost a fifth for the Canaries. Marcondes, introduced off the bench, found Kellen Fisher and his effort was saved by the feet of Pandur.
