Norwich City fell to a 3-2 loss at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League 2 Division 2 as the hosts fought back from 2-1 down at half-time to win the match.
The Canaries had put themselves into a commanding position in the match, after conceeding the first goal, with strikes from Abu Kamara and Flynn Clarke.
However, two goals in the final half hour of the match from Will Swan and substitute Lewis Salmon won the match for Forest.
Norwich made four changes from the previous Premier League 2 match at home to Southampton. Into the side came Lewis Shipley, Josh Giurgi, Joe Duffy and Regan Riley. They replaced Saxon Earley, Liam Gibbs, Tom Dickson-Peters and Jonathan Rowe.
The match looked in doubt as the teams were warming up as dense fog meant it was difficult to see, from the Peter Taylor Stand, either end of the pitch or the crowd of spectators in the Brian Clough Stand, who had braved the chilly conditions to see the game.
However, it was Forest who adapted to the conditions better from the off, getting the ball forward early and putting Norwich under pressure. It was from this that they won a penalty in the fourth minute that was expertly dispatched by Julian Larsson.
Norwich grew into the half though and Tony Springett fired a warning sign when a mazy run across the area ended up with a shot wide of the mark.
Then on 17 minutes, the Canaries were level as they worked the ball down the right where Oscar Thorn played the ball into the box for Abu Kamara to fire home.
Six minutes later and the visitors had turned the game around when the lively Springett fed a perfectly-weight through pass to Clarke and he too the ball around Jordan Wright and slotted a shot into an empty net.
Dylan Berry then came to Norwich’s rescue on a couple of occasions to deny Ateef Konate. His first effort came from Larsson cross but his header lacked power and accuracy. The second was a well struck free kick but Berry expertly tipped this effort onto his crossbar.
The half ended with Kamara breaking forward and bringing a good one-handed stop from Wright.
The second half began with Konate having a couple of runs at Josh Giurgi, in Norwich's full-back position without joy, before Clarke sent a looping header towards goal that was well saved by Wright.
Springett then continued to look dangerouds as he flashed a left foot shot just wide of the post on 55 minutes. Moments later at the other end Aaron Donnelly crossed for Swan to fire at goal but his effort was well blocked by Tomkinson.
Nottingham Forest were level on 67 minutes though when Swan beat the offside trap and fired low past Berry.
And it could have got worse for the Canaries just a minute later as Larsson was afforded too much time on the left hand side of the pitch, but thankfully he dragged his effort into the side netting.
However, the second half comeback was then completed by Forest with eight minutes to go as, with Norwich pushing forward, the home side played the ball over the top of the defence once more and Lewis Salmon raced through to fire in off the woodwork to make it 3-2.
