There was no separating Portsmouth and Norwich City at Fratton Park in this Tuesday night Sky Bet Championship fixture.
It was a first trip to Fratton Park for City since 2011 when Simeon Jackson's header clinched promotion.
With the shock news of Kenny McLean's four-game suspension ahead of kick-off, Johannes Hoff Thorup made some changes to his lineup.
Shane Duffy took the armband with José Córdoba returning to partner him in defence. McLean and Anis Ben Slimane dropped out of the starting 11 with Jacob Sørensen and Ashley Barnes taking their place.
Former Canary Josh Murphy was causing problems with his pace early on but the best of the opening opportunities fell to Norwich and Emi Marcondes.
His header from a Borja Sainz cross was collected with ease by Nicolas Schmid.
Murphy almost found the bottom corner with a curling effort but Angus Gunn was happy to let it go past the post.
A deflection off Terry Devlin almost took the ball beyond Schmid soon after but the Austrian made a good stop.
After the break, Sainz had an early chance when Córdoba played a long pass to him but Schmid was down quickly to save again.
Portsmouth had the ball in the net in the 53rd minute but referee Andrew Kitchen had already blown his whistle for a foul on Gunn.
The hosts created some half-chances but without testing Gunn thanks to some good defending.
As the clock ticked towards 90 minutes, both teams still probed looking for an opening but none was forthcoming.
The Canaries welcome Burnley to Carrow Road on Sunday, December 15 (KO 3pm).
