An early own goal from Amankwah Forson handed Swansea City a 1-0 victory over the Canaries in the Sky Bet Championship.
City were left frustrated after a hectic game at the Swansea.com Stadium that saw both teams spurn good chances including a handful for the Canaries in the dying moments.
Oscar Schwartau made his full debut in the first outing since the international break. Anis Ben Slimane was absent through injury while Kenny McLean and Josh Sargent started despite injury scares while on international duty.
It was Swansea who threatened first breaking quickly after Sargent couldn't get a shot away, but the City forward showed huge desire to get back and make the tackle in his own box after two minutes.
City were behind a minute later when Forson deflected Eom Ji-Sung's pullback past Angus Gunn.
Sargent had a shot blocked on the five-minute mark as the Canaries tried to hit back immediately.
It was Sargent again who surged forward on 15 minutes and hammered a right-footed shot towards goal, which was beaten away by Lawrence Vigouroux. The USA international met Forson's free-kick with a glanced header wide a minute later.
Jack Stacey supplied Sargent from the right on 25 minutes; Sargent spun and laid the ball off for Schwartau whose shot was blocked.
Forson forced Vigouroux into a save after meeting a cross from Marcelino Núñez with a looped header in the 38th minute.
Callum Doyle bravely blocked a shot as Gonçalo Franco cut in from the left and fired goal-wards in the 42nd minute.
Stacey burst forward quickly after the break but his clipped cross was cut out by the Swansea defence.
Ante Crnac replaced Schwartau on 58 minutes and was soon in action, feeding Sainz who couldn't find space on the edge of the box.
Swansea had a huge chance when Ollie Cooper's cross flashed across the face of the Norwich goal but Florian Bianchini's lunge was not enough to convert at the back post in the 77th minute.
City began to throw everything at the home side in a desperate hunt for an equaliser.
They were nearly level on 84 minutes as Sainz, Sargent and Crnac tried to force the ball home before Swansea somehow cleared. The pressure continued as Onel Hernández, on for Forson, crossed from the left but pulled it back behind everyone.
Sainz was thwarted by a lunging tackle in the 90th minute and then found himself through again from a wayward back-pass seconds later, but he could not find a finish.
The Spaniard missed a glorious chance in the 96th minute as he side-footed his shot high from a good position in the box before the final whistle brought a frustrating afternoon to an end.
